Weather Report

Well ... Winter has settled in at Paris Landing.  All the leaves have fallen but the scenery is still gorgeous.  The really cold weather hasn't come yet.  That doesn't usually happen until January.

Usually about now the high temperatures are in the 50's.  But for the next few days they are going to be in the 60's and 70's.

Don't you wish you were here?

Dogwoods

The Dogwoods can't decide ....

if they are green, or ....

or purple, or
somewhere in between.

And look at all those red berries!

I love Fall!

Flip Flops & Dragonflies

The Fishtale Lodge recently turned their swimming pool into a garden area with a waterfall.

Love the dragonfly and flip flops ... and the bike ... and the water fall.

Wish you could hear this waterfall.  It took me a few trips over there to realize the fresh, tropical feeling I was getting everytime I came to visit ~ was coming from the sound of this waterfall.

Remember this?

Well!  You should see it now.

The front.
All decked out in summer flowers.
Photographed at the Carpenter house on Lakehill Beach Estates Road.

The back.
Bill Carpenter gives Freida all the credit for their gorgeous flowers.

Love this yard ornament.

Bank Fishing

Look like fun?

It is!

This is such a typical scene around here.  Fishing from the bank doesn't require any fancy equipment.  And there are miles and miles of beach to fish from.

What Does Fun Look Like?

I'm sure these kids will never forget this summer or the fun they had playing in the waters of Kentucky Lake at Paris Landing.  Thank you Richard Graves for the great photos!

A Day In My Neighborhood

A day in my neighborhood might include ...

Fishing at dawn.

A drive through the countryside.

Or,
a deadly encounter.

Now, what would a blog about living at a lake be - without the occasional snake?

Thanks to John Peddy  at Sweetvalley Cabin Rental for the photos.

In Honor of The Olympics

One of our Paris Landing neighbors, Richard Graves, who just happens to be an award winning photographer, recently caught local fishermen, Geraldo showing off his gymnastic abilities in honor of the Olympics.

In the following photos, Geraldo goes to great lengths just to catch a minnow.

He spotted the fish he wants to catch.

And in he goes!

Bringin’ it home!

A little swinging trapeze action!

Almost there!

Got it!

Geraldo is a Green Heron and Richard Graves is an award winning photographer who is noted for getting great action shots like these of our wildlife.

Lake Signs

I'm starting a new label or category for Lake Signs.    They seem to be everywhere out here at Paris Landing.

Love this one I saw at T.F. Rice & Co.

A Morning at the Lake

Things I Like At The Lake

Not only are the birds well fed ... they have a spectacular view!

Summertime flowers are having at.

Buy a print or view other scenes of my neighborhood by clicking here.
Found a pretty place to sit and watch the world go by over at Anne's place.

My sister Anne always lets the  Queen Anne's Lace grown wild in her yard.

And just look at this face!

Awwwww!

Woodies

Hello there!

One of the things I like so much about Paris Landing is the wildlife and ducks are among some of the prettiest animals we have around here. Every now and then, I actually manage to see a duck - up close and personal. I see lots of them at a distance or flying over head.  So it always fascinates me when I see a photo like the one shown above realize that it was taken right here here my own neighborhood.

The following are all Woodies photographed by Richard Graves of Paris Landing.

We hope you will visit Richard's website at http://rgravesphotography.blogspot.com/ where you can see many more photos like these.

What I Like

Sometimes I find it necessary to explain why I like Paris Landing so much.  It's not just the lake, the landscape, the wildlife, the weather.  A lot of it has to do with the people.  And on Saturday at the Wounded Warrior Bass Tournament .... the folks of Paris Landing made me proud.  Here are a few of the things I like.

Sharon Seaton found a boat for this last minute soldier.

People who are really, really happy to be so helpful.

Cindy Rice of T.F. Rice & Co. gets the award for bringing the biggest flag.
When you tell folks "Y'all come and bring a flag."  .... they bring the biggest one they can find,

Ryan Caldwell isn't too young to wave a flag.
or .... they bring their kids too and make them wave a flag,

or, just in case you forgot to bring a flag -
Anne, Justin and Caleb Cullen
They bring a flag just for you!

Love this Eagle provided by the State Park!

Everyone finds a way to be helpful.

The guys from the U.S. Coast Guard Cimmarron unhooked
snags for kids at the Junior Fishing Rodeo.

I love it when I get a cool shot like this one!  (And no - I don't know who's head that is.)

Or this one.  Look at the girl on the right dodging a hook.

Or this one.

Or when everyone lines up just right, almost as if they were waiting on a camera,
so I can get a shot like this.

And of course, if I weren't at Paris Landing I wouldn't have the opportunity for all these photos.

I just like Paris Landing.
