Something A Little Different / Senior Photo Shoot At Old Bridge

My classmate from high school commented jokingly on a post wishing us to photograph her daughters seniors portraits. Just so happened we would be vacationing in the area soon. It would be my pleasure to photograph her gorgeous daughter. Jan was always available when I wanted to practice my camera skills back in the day. These are a few of my favorites from her session last week in Tennessee.

The Fish Photo

I don't post a lot of fish photos on this website.  I would rather post pretty views of the lake, scenery and flowers.  But I feel a responsibility to post one every now and then - since this is a fishing community.

So, my buddy Sharon Seaton was going out fishing this morning with her husband.  I said, "Send me a photo of a fish."

This is what she sends me.

She labeled it, "Kentucky Lake's Eiffel Tower."  I usually avoid taking photos of these TVA towers on our Lake and frequently remove them with PhotoShop.  Not Sharon,  she just embraces them and tries to convince us they are Eiffel Towers.
Not satisfied, I texted her back.  Thanked her and said, "fish" as a reminder of our original objective.
So she sends me this.

I like this much better.  Not only does it meet my annual quota for "fish photos" but I get to look at David Seaton's rather nice legs and the Eiffel Tower.

A new Place To Stay At Paris Landing

Found a new place to stay at Paris Landing.  Went by today and met the owner, Jan Maupin, who has a long history with Paris Landing. (More about that later.)

I hope you will visit their Facebook page at Wild Goose Chase to see more photos and share with friends who will be visiting Paris Landing.

Outdoor Living On The Lake

Over the years I've posted a lot of photos from this property overlooking Kentucky Lake.  It belongs to a friend of mine, Kathi Stofel.  Kathi takes her interior decorating skills outside to create interesting and cozy outdoor living areas.

A dining area for six on a deck feels like it's in the tree tops.

A narrow side yard was turned into paved room with a pergola and retaining walls for plants.  The walls are just tall enough to sit on.

One end of the side yard has a secluded niche complete with a small table, wall art and even a mirror.
You have to pay attention. Kathi has all sorts of interesting decorating touches.

I love a well decorated yard that shows off the unique lifestyle of living at the lake.  I hope this serves as inspiration for you.

The Roses Are Blooming At Paris Landing - You've Got To Stop & Smell The Roses

The roses are blooming in Paris Landing.  Thanks to John Peddy for the gorgeous photo!
This song is perfect for Paris Landing.  There is a link below if you would like to listen to it.

Stop and Smell the Roses-
Mac Davis
Hey Mister
Where you going in such a hurry
Don't you think it's time you realized
There's a whole lot more to life than work and worry
The sweetest things in life are free
And there right before your eyes
You got to Stop and Smell the roses
You've got to count your many blessings everyday
You're gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road
If you don't Stop and Smell the roses along the way
Before you went to work this morning in the city
Did you spend some time with your family
Did you kiss your wife and tell her that she's pretty
Did you take your children to your breast and love them tenderly
You got to Stop and Smell the roses
You've got to count your many blessings everyday
You're gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road
If you don't Stop and Smell the roses along the way
Did you ever take a walk through the forest
Stop and dream a while among the trees
Well you can look up through the leaves right straight to heaven
You can almost hear the voice of God
In each any every breeze
You got to Stop and Smell the Roses
You've got to count your many blessings everyday
You're gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road
If you don't Stop and Smell the Roses along the way
You got to Stop and Smell the roses
You've got to count your many blessings everyday
You're gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road
If you don't Stop and Smell the roses along the way

Peacefully Unknown Neighbors

"Peacefully Unknown Neighbors"
By Mike Wilson
"This picture is of Donnie and Donna Winchester from a few years ago.  They were spending one of many sunny afternoons enjoying the lake and each other's peaceful company while in the foreground a resting squirrel munches on a snack.  Neither was aware of the other but I captured them co-existing among God's creation.  Donnie has since passed."  from Mike Wilson

I love this photo.  There is so much you can read into it.  The peaceful connection between the squirrel and the Winchesters is the most obvious.

What I love the most is the look on the Winchesters faces.  I can't tell you how many times I've seen this look - folks just staring at the waters of Kentucky Lake, relaxed, comfortable and peaceful.  And you wonder how many years they've been coming to this same spot or another overlooking the lake, just to sit, look and be at peace.

And from a personal standpoint, it makes me remember that I started coming to the lake when I was about eight years old and now that I'm in my sixties - I'm still in awe of this beautiful lake.

A Winter View

Living at the Lake when the weather is like this can be a little challenging - but ...
It Is So Worth It!

This is one of my very favorite Lake views.  It's in Lakehill Beach Estates and faces straight down the Big Sandy River.  Thanks to Janice Frame for the photos.
